Highlands, NJ - Resilience in the midst of tragedy

A small town on the northeastern tip of New Jersey has seen its share of tragedy.  From Highlands, residents watched the plumes of smoke coming from the twin towers on 9/11 and years later Superstorm Sandy left a harsh mark.  This fishing community's fighting spirit has helped the town bounce back and it's worth a visit if you're ever in that part of the state.

Tennessee's highest peak lies deep inside the Great Smoky Mountains, the nation's most visited National Park.   From the observation deck at Clingman's Dome you get a real sense of the beauty throughout East Tennessee (and Western North Carolina).  While more than 9-million people come to the Smokies each year, it's one of a handful of national parks all within a couple hours drive of Knoxville.
